Leon E. Hersom, 84, of Acton, passed away on Wednesday April 19, 2006 at H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Acton on May 11, 1921 a son of Leon F. and Nellie (Hayes) Hersom.
Mr. Hersom served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. For many years he owned and operated Hersom Lumber in Sanford. He was a 50 year member of the Springvale Masonic Lodge #190 AF & AM.
He is predeceased by one son, Leon Hersom III, one grandchild, Bradly Allaire.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ann H. (Barrows) Hersom of Acton, children, Julie Emerson, Karen LeGary, Jennifer Hersom, step children, David Allaire, Douglas Allaire, Cathy Allaire and Mark Allaire, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 22 at 1pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Acton with Rev. Susan Kingman officiating followed by a Masonic Service with the members of the Springvale Masonic Lodge # 190 AF & AM.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street in Springvale
