Celia Zundel Bennett, 81, passed away March 25, 2013, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mom was born July 9, 1931, to Rosel and Celia Adele Nish Zundel, at their home in Plymouth, Utah. She was raised in West Fielding, Utah, on the family dairy farm, helping out with outside chores as well as housework. She attended school in Garland, Utah, graduating from Bear River High. Mom married her one and only sweetheart, Roberts S. "Bob" Bennett, in the Logan LDS Temple on May 18, 1949.

She was a very busy young mother of seven, supervising 4-H clubs, teaching piano, sharing her singing talents, volunteering at the County Fair and supporting Bob in his passion for horses. Mom had to say goodbye to our dad some 39 years ago, and has excelled at fending for herself ever since. She still had three young children to raise, and did a great job of taking care of them on her own.

She began a career as a cook at several Tremonton area schools until her retirement at age 64. Mom enjoyed acting, and was in several area plays. She later moved to Logan, where she enjoyed going to the temple and ushering at the Ellen Eccles theatre. Mom has always strived to help others, even though she had her own challenges.

Celia was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings, from Stake Relief Society president, music director, chorister and organist, to officiating at the Logan Temple. She also fulfilled a mission to Hawaii.

Celia is survived by six of her children, Cindy Kamp (Steve) of Apple Valley, Utah, Cheri Chournos (Allen) of Syracuse, Utah, Kim Bennett (Annie) of Lund, Nev., Val Bennett (Connie) and Kelly Bennett (Irma) of Tremonton, and Jennifer Rinderknecht (Guy) of Ririe, Idaho. She is also survived by sisters JaNae Schaeffer and Kathy Valdez; brothers Wynn Zundel, C. Nish Zundel and Kerry Zundel; and brother-in-law Jerald Cannon. She has 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son John, grandsons Travis Larsen and Clancey Rinderknecht, and sister Rowane Cannon.

A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, and 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Elwood LDS chapel, 4865 W. 9600 North in Elwood, Utah. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, also at the Elwood chapel. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton.
