Reable L. ‘Reba' Price
May 8, 1913 — March 20, 2004
Services will be Thursday morning for longtime obstetric nurse's aide Reable L. "Reba" Price, who died Saturday at her Tracy home. She was 90.
Born in Vernon, Ala., Mrs. Price moved to Tracy in 1944. She worked at B&B Laundry before going to work at Tracy Community Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper in 1960.
Five years later, at the age of 52, she decided to try her hand at helping in the obstetrics ward as a certified nurse's aide.
"I just love it because I love the mothers and the babies," Price was quoted as saying in a 1989 Tracy Press article about her career at the hospital. She was 75 at the time.
Mrs. Price retired from the hospital in 1990 after 30 years.
When she wasn't at the hospital taking care of newborns and their mothers, Mrs. Price enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, canning and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by grandchildren Marci Rossi, and her husband, Joe, of Manteca, Ron Komorous Jr. of Chicago, Chris Komorous, and his wife, Julie, of McHenry, Ill., Mike Price, and his wife, Shelly, of Vallejo, and Lynn Blaylock of South Lake Tahoe; three siblings, Louise Brand and Odell Carter, both of Alabama, and Coy Fowler of Florida; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Vannah Price; two children, J.B. Price and Dorothy Komorous; and a grandson, Ryan King.
Thursday's services will begin at 10 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., where visitation will be observed from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be in Tracy Cemetery.
