Charles Kenneth Curkendall, 76, of Volga passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at his residence. He was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Century, a son of the late Marvin and Bessie (Payne) Curkendall. Surviving are two sisters: Beryl Hall of Uniontown, Pa., and Joan Simons of Williamsport, Ohio; six brothers: Deward and wife Rose Curkendall of Painesville, Ohio, John and wife Mary Curkendall of Vienna, W.Va., Blair and wife Jean Curkendall of Washington, W.Va., Gary and wife Judy Curkendall of Williamstown, W.Va., Henry "Ronald" and wife Tula Curkendall of Volga, and Max and wife Sharon Curkendall of Parkersburg, W.Va. Mr. Curkendall was preceded in death by one sister Mary Smearman, and one brother Wayne Curkendall. Mr. Curkendall retired as a coal miner, worked at Bethlem Steel Company and was a farmer. There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, March 25 at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The Wright Funeral Home of Philippi is in charge of the arrangements.
