Crystal Harwell of Decatur died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Cornelius Griffin Harwell and Verna Pennington Harwell and a granddaughter of the late Dr. Littleton P. Harwell who was one of the earlier settlers of Morgan County.

Miss Harwell was a graduate of Piedmont College, attended the University of Colorado, and was a retired school teacher from the Atlanta Public School System. She was also a member of the Atlanta First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sisters, Adelaide Harwell of Decatur and Martha (Steve) Bartek of Duluth; nephews, Timmy (Margaret) Harwell, Mikki (Candance) Harwell of Jackson, Lamar (Donna) Harwell of Eatonton, Michael (Glenda) Harwell of Athens and Lee Harwell of Winder. She was preceded in death by her brothers Eugene Harwell and C. G. Harwell.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 31 in the Chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Robert V. Ozment officiating. Interment was in Madison City Cemetery.

Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
