Funeral service for Charles R. Raiford, 72, of Opelika is Sunday, March 18, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Burial is in Garden Hills Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Bullard is officiating.
Visitation is Saturday, from 6-8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mr. Raiford, who died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his home, was born July 17, 1934, in Lowndes, Co.. Alabama.
Mr. Raiford was a longtime resident of the Opelika area. He was married November 6, 1954 to his wife, Alice. He was employed by West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Opelika for 28 years and then by Wal-Mart in Opelika where he retired with 20 years of service. Mr. Raiford was a Baptist by faith. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice F. Raiford on March 5, 2007.
He is survived by four daughters, Connie Hins of Montgomery, Sheryl Royal of Montgomery Linda Patterson of Opelika, Brenda Danzey of Marianne, FL; two sisters, Margie Thompson of Pell City, Pearl Baker of Marietta, GA; three brothers. John R. Raiford of Opelika, Joe B. Raiford of Opelika, Jessie E. Raiford of Tallassee; four grandchildren, and one great grandson.
