Edward "Ed" Stephen Roth, age 86, died peacefully on March 9, 2013, in Houston. Born in Philadelphia, Ed joined the Navy in July, 1944 wherein he served on the USS President Monroe in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon an honorable discharge in 1946, he attended business school and went to work for Esso Standard Oil (Exxon) where he worked as an accountant and work systems analyst for 40 years. From 1976-1986, Ed and his beloved wife Millie, traveled extensively for his work and enjoyed living in Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Egypt. A classically trained musician, Ed served as an organist and choir director for most of his life, including while living overseas. Upon retirement, Ed volunteered in the community, served on the board of the homeowner's association in his neighborhood, traveled around the world with Millie, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
