R. Reed DeVane, 89, died Wednesday Feb. 25, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Chapel, Canterbury School.

He was the son of Cantey Venable and John Murphy
DeVane and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Mr. DeVane is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Mike Cammack of Greensboro, Mollie and David Neal of Tryon and Destin, Fla.; grandchildren Reed Cammack Holmes and husband Shawn, Alston Neal Taggart and husband Theron, and David Lybrook Neal; great-grandchildren, Lacey Holmes, Murphy Holmes and Clay Holmes; and brother John Murphy DeVane and his wife, Gwen, of Seattle, Wash.

Reed's wife, Martha Fry DeVane, preceded him in death.

The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday at Well-Spring, 4100 Well-Spring Drive, Apartment #1304.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral home is assisting the family.
