Allan Duane Bell, 51, of Smithville, died March 28 at his residence.
Funeral services were held March 30 at First Presbyterian Church of Smithville. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Bell was born Feb. 11, 1954, in Refugio, Texas. He moved to Gatesville, and attended Gatesville schools, graduating in 1972. After graduation, he began his 27-year career with the MKT “Katy” Railroad, working as a brakeman, then promoting to conductor. He was actively involved with the Smithville Jamboree, UTU Local 508, Brown Booster Club and the Smithville Elementary Booster Club. He was a board member of the James Long Railroad Museum and Park, and served as an elder of the First Presbyterian Church before his health declined.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Saunders Bell; three sons, Jordan Ligon Bell, Hunter Corlee Bell and Haden Corbin Bell, all of Smithville; his parents, Billy and Ruth Bell, of Moffat; brother, Keith Bell, of Gatesville; and sisters, Marla Hernandez, of Moffat, and Becky Bell, of Pflugerville.
