Explorer. He was an explorer, photographer, lecturer, and Jesuit priest from California. Leading annual expeditions to Alaska from 1927 until shortly before his death, Father Hubbard became known as "The Glacier Priest." In 1931, Literary Digest described his work: "Half the year the highest-paid lecturer in the world, the other half a wanderer among treacherous craters and glaciers." Hubbard's 11,000 photographic negatives and artifacts were given to the Santa Clara University Archives. His 200,000 feet of raw film and 50 film shorts are at the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
