Daniel Raymond Meade Sr., 69, of 12 Bridge St., Mahanoy Plane, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at home.
Born in Ashland, Aug. 10, 1943, he was a son of the late J. Francis and Margaret Collins Meade.
A graduate of Mahanoy Area High School, he was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam.
He retired from Air Products, Hometown.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 309, Girardville, and was an avid Notre Dame, Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Mary Meade, in July 2007.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Sally Miller Meade; two sons, Daniel Jr., Mahanoy City, and Michael, Wynnewood; two daughters, Kelly Ann, wife of Gerard Cepil, Sheppton, and Bridget McDonald, Ashland; three brothers, Francis Meade, husband of Joan, Coatesville, Patrick Meade, husband of Susan, Forty Fort, and Edward, husband of Annette, Forty Fort; two sisters, Elizabeth, wife of Peter Rybski, Manville, N.J., and Alma Osenbach, Mahanoy Plane; four grandchildren whom he adored, Lauren and Alexander Meade and Hunter and Aiden Cepil; nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, 614 W. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City, PA 17948.
