Rev. S. H. Bowyer of Springfield formerly of this city will officiate at the funeral services for Mrs. Sophronia Humble, to be conducted at 9 oclock Wednesday morning in the home, 550 W. North streeet. The body will be taken to Tuscola at 11:30 oclock Wednesday for burial.
Mrs. Humble died at 1:30 oclock Monday morning in her home after a lingering illness of one years. While her death was not sudden it came as a shock to her many friends.
She was born in Pendleton county, near Fosters Landing, Ky, May 15, 1838.She was married to Larkin Garnet Humble in Fosters Landing in 185. Her maiden name was Sophronia Maddox. The came to Illinois and settled in Douglas ounty. After her husband died in 1879 she and the children moved toDecatur in 1882. She has lived here since. She leaves two brother B. F. Maddox of S. Pasadena, Cal and Milton F. Maddox of Indianapolis, also two sisters, Mrs. Reuben Green of Kankakee and Mrs. James Seeney of Indianapolis. She leaves also nine children, seven of whom were at her home at the time of death. They are Sherwoood Humbler, Mrs. B. G. DeGroat, Mrs. Theodore Stetcher, Mrs. George Post, Charles Humble and Mrs. Adelaide Humble all of Decatur. The other two are Robert Humble and Mrs. A. f. Kenelly at Stoneville, S. D. there are 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
