Gertrude Oppermann, 74 years old, widow of Frederick Opperman, died suddenly at 2:45 o'clock, Thursday afternoon at her home in 509 East Francis avenue of a heart attack. She had been in ill health since early spring, but for the last six weeks had been able to be about in her home and yard.
Mrs. Oppermann a widely-known resident of Connellsville, was born in Germany, July 14, 1864 and came here with her parents when a young girl. On June 14, 1884 she was united in marriage with Frederick Oppermann and lived on East Francis avenue. Her husband died May 29, 1905.
Seven of the 10 children born to couple survive. They are: Peter, and Mrs. James H. White, at home, Fred S., Joseph and Henry of Connellsville; Mrs. George White, Butler and Mrs. Thomas Courtney, Lakewood, Ohio. Two sons, John and Charles and one daughter Mrs. Charles Oppermann died within the last 10 years. There are also 11 grandchildren and three brothers, John, Boutis and Joseph Beucher all of Connellsville.
Mrs Oppermann was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. The funeral will be held Monday morning with requiem mass being celebrated at 9 o'clock at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev Father Henry A Geibel, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St Joseph's Cemetery.
The Christian mothers Confraternity will meet at the home at 8 o'clock tonight to recite the rosary.
