Susan E. Ravenscroft was born March 1845, in Maryland to William Price Ravenscroft and Louisa (Knight) Ravenscroft. The family lived in the area of Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland until around 1858, which they resided in Hampshire County, Virginia. By 1868, the family moved to Mineral County, West Virginia and she had married George Washington Paxton, the son of James A. Paxton and Mary Ann Elizabeth (Crowder) Paxton. Before 1879 the family had moved to Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas and then by 1910 moved to Amarillo, Potter County, Texas. By 1911, Susan and George had settled in San Diego County, California at the end of their lives.

Susan passed away on the 9th of January, 1924 in San Diego County, California. She was buried in Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, San Diego County, California (Plot: Laurel Place).
