Gordon "Griff" Griffith, 66, of Lebanon, died at his home on March 24, 2013.

Griff was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on March 9, 1947 to Norman and Elsie (Best) Griffith. He grew up in St. John until his family moved to Newington, Connecticut when he was 15. He attended Newington High School in Connecticut, graduating in 1966.

When Griff Finished school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After leaving the service he went to work for Western Electric in Hartford, CT where he stayed for many years until relocating to Maine in the mid-1980's. In Maine he owned and operated Food Forethought Catering in Saco for several years.

Griff was a very handy person, skilled in carpentry, plumbing and electrical work and often employed these skills working around his house. He was an all around outdoorsman and enjoyed saltwater fishing, four-wheeling, boating and camping. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Griff was predeceased by his parents and by a brother, Kenneth R. Griffith.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Griffith of Lebanon; two sons, Kenneth Griffith and his wife Amy of Meridan, Connecticut and William Griffith of Kennebunk; a brother, David Griffith and his wife Rebecca of Frostproof, Florida; two step-daughters, Nicole Lessard and her companion Marvin Monroy of Methuen, Massachusetts and Danielle Chabot of Lebanon; two granddaughters, Emily and Lauren Griffith of Meridan, Connecticut and two step-grandchildren, Emelia and Noah Monroy of Methuen, Massachusetts and several nieces, nephews and great nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 29th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
