Mr. Claire was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Sitka, Alaska. He served in both the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the U.S. Army, during World War II. He was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service. He moved to Beaverton in 1978, where he was a member of the church. In 1943, he married Virginia Dufresne; she died in 1980. In 1982, he married Ruth Arthur.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Maribeth Roberts; son, Robert F.; stepson, Randy L. Arthur; sister, Margaret L. Dangel; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His daughter Judith Hoskins died Feb. 1.
