Dr. Krake, age 74, of Dry Prong, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at his residence.
He was a board certified family physician for 50 years, Medical Director of Christus Cabrini school-based clinics and the former Coroner of Grant Parish for many years. As a graduate of LSU Baton Rouge, LSU Medical School and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, he mentored many young medical professionals throughout his career. He served in the U.S. Public Health Services for 24 years; retiring as Captain. "Doc" was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong, and was a member of the Gideons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alford Krake and Myrtle Krake Smith; infant son; one brother, Paul V. Krake; one sister, Inez Krake Godfrey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Geraldine Jones Krake of Dry Prong; one son, Allen A. Krake of Dry Prong; one daughter, Pamela Krake Bernadas (Sal) of Watson; four brothers, Albert E. Krake (Nat) of Baton Rouge, Joseph W. Krake (Mary) of Concord, California, Max Krake (Elizabeth) of Zachary and Charles R. Krake (Lena) of Houston, Texas; one sister, Faye Krake of Zachary. Also survived by many numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Chandler, Paul Burke, Robert Willett, James D. Crooks, Norman Garlington, Gary Woodard, Chris Brunson and Bob Barfield; honorary pallbearers will be Deacons, First Baptist Church, Dr. Krake's Sunday School Class, Billy Chandler, Jr., Sammy Reitzell and Dr. Kenneth Darcy.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Amite Baptist Church, Denham Springs, Louisiana from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
The family offers special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Cancer Center, and the hospital staff that cared for him.
Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe or to First Baptist Church of Dry Prong.
