WESTFIELD - Mrs. Adelaide (Hodsdon) Wilder, 105, a former school teacher and Petersham resident, died today in a Westfield nursing home. For the past three years she held the goldheaded cane as the oldest person in the city of Westfield. She was the wife of the late George K. Wilder of Petersham. Born in North Yarmouth, Maine, she was a resident of Petersham for 68 years, leaving in 1961 to make her home in Amherst. She lived in Amherst six years before moving to Westfield. She was a graduate of Gorham Normal School, Gorham, Maine. She had taught in Everett, Dracut and Petersham schools. She was active in the Petersham Unitarian Church and served several years on the Petersham School Committee and the Republican Town Committee. She had been a town leader in county extension service programs. She was a member of Petersham Grange. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Norman Cook of Warwick and Mrs. McLeod L. Douthit of Dunedin, Fla.; a son, G. Everett Wilder of West Springfield; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be in East Street Cemetery, Petersham, at the convenience of teh family. The Firtion-Hollister Funeral Home, 76 Broad street, Westfield, is handling arrangements.

WESTFIELD - Adelaide (Hodsdon) Wilder, 105, of Feeding Hills Road, for the last three years the holder of the Gold Headed Cane as the oldest resident of Westfield, died Monday in a local nursing home. The widow of George K. Wilder, she was born in North yarmouth, Maine and lived in Petersham 68 years. A graduate of the Gorham Normal School in Maine, she taught in Everett, Dracut, and Petersham School Committee and the Petersham Republican Committee, was a town leader in the Country Extension Service Programs, and was a life member of the Petersham Grange. She leaves a son, G. Everett Wilder of West Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Norman Cook of Warwick and Mrs. Macleod L. Douthn of Dunedin, Fla.; sis grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The service will be at the convenience of the family in East Street Cemetery in Petersham. Firton-Holliser Funeral Home is in charge.
