Donald J. Baxter 1922 - 2009 Former Resident of Lafayette Don passed away Feb 6th from complications of Alzheimer's. Don was born in Portland, Oregon and moved with his family to Oakland, CA, as a teenager. He served in the South Pacific as a Marine in WWII; came home and graduated from UC Berkeley. Don began a successful career as the editor of the Mill Valley Record. He went on become a public relations director at PG&E during which time he authored several books on California history. Don was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Shirley Irene Butler. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ellen McBroom and son-in-law Terry McBroom; and Laurie Ann Peckham and son-in-law Peter Peckham; his 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Stacey, Alan, Jared and Eric; as well as two great granddaughters, Karolyn and Samantha. Don will be remembered for his wit, his constant smile and his unfailing sense of humor. He was affectionately known by his family as Good Old Dad (G.O.D.) He will be loved forever and missed by his family and many friends. Services to be held at St. Anselm's Episcopal Church, 682 Michael Ln., Lafayette, CA on Saturday, March 14th at 12 noon.
