Frank Hutchins “Bud” Baum

Frank Baum Resident of Concord Frank "Bud" Baum, devoted husband to Louise and beloved father of Stephen, Doris, Marjorie, Linda, and Richard, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, with his devoted wife Louise and caring step-daughter, Peg Matson at his side. He was 84 years old. Frank's family has lived in the Bay Area since the days of the gold rush. He was born in Alameda, served in the army shortly after WWII and eventually began a family with his first wife Eugena in Danville. Frank was a genuinely warm and caring person who attracted many friends both where he lived and along his route as a mail carrier in Walnut Creek. Maybe because of his job (it was a walking route), he also developed a passion for backpacking (the term "busman's holiday" came up more than once). He loved the Sierra, and walked the entire length of the John Muir trail with his children. More recently, Frank moved to the Dalis Gardens Mobile Home Park in Concord, where he enjoyed a morning coffee with a regular circle of friends, and, along with Louise, was often seen walking their dog, or bicycling around the grounds. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 8th at 2pm at the Clubhouse of the Dalis Gardens Mobil Home Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
