Daniel Hale, son of George and Rebecca Hale, was born at New Columbus, Ky., November 29, 1867, and died at his home in Waverly after a lingering illness, on Sunday, November 14, 1937, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 15 days.
On February 11, 1892, he was united in marriage to Lucy McClain, to which union six children were born; Raymond, of Waverly; Ronald, of Gildford, Mont.; Rudolph, of Carrollton; Mrs. Emma Campbell and Mrs. Maybelle Childers of Springfield; and Verna, who died when about fourteen years of age.
Other survivors are his wife; one brother, Robert Hale, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Wynn, of New Columbus, Ky., Mrs. Sarah Beard of Jefferson City, Mo., and Mrs. Dora Wolford, of Hanford, Cal.; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Hale came to Waverly in 1900, and later returned to Kentuckyu; he then came back here in 1911, and has lived here since.
Many years ago he united with a Methodist church in New Columbus, Ky. He transferred his membership to the Waverly Baptist church on September 1, 1937.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of the pastor, Rev. J. T. Finnan, assisted by Rev. D. K. Sailor, pastor of the First M. E. Church.
Burial was in East cemetery.
