Edward A. Anderstrom, 85, of Hilton Head Island died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at his home after a long struggle with cancer. He was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Holyoke, Mass., son of the late Arvid and Rose Sears Anderstrom. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeastern University and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, including spending two years under the U.S. Navy in Dakar, French West Africa. Mr. Anderstrom, a financial manager for various companies of High Tech Electronics, retired to Hilton Head in 1979. He later opened his own real estate company as broker-in-charge of Sea Island Associates Inc., and he was coordinator of the AARP tax aide volunteer program sponsored by SHARE for many years. He enjoyed tennis, poker and golf and was especially proud of his hole-in-one. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Susan E. Daily; and his grandson, Allan E. Anderstrom, who died March 25, 2005. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Lori Anderstrom of Hilton Head; a granddaughter, Carly Lopez, of Connecticut; his great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life gathering will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, 20 Palmetto Parkway, Suite 104, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
