Howard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a signal core operator and was employed with Indiana Bell as a construction supervisor. He was a member of the VFW Carmel, Carmel Masonic Lodge #421 F&AM, and the Murat Shrine Club.
Howard is survived by his sons, Dr. Mike (Barb) and Dr. Jeff (Linda) Graves; grandchildren, Nicola Clark (Andrew), Ben, Josh, Rachel, Jacob, and Wyatt Graves; sister, Martha June Strock; brother, Clyde Elmer Graves.
Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Graves; brother, Robert Glen Graves; sister, Mildred Mitchell.
