Obituary of Howard Boyd
(1924 ~ March 25, 2013)

Gulfport, MS ~ Howard Boyd, age 89, of Gulfport, passed away on March 25, 2013, in Gulfport.

He was a native of Oloh, MS and lived on the coast most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific as an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic and he retired from Keesler Air Force Base as an Aircraft Mechanic. Mr. Boyd was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. "Papa" had a special place in his heart for his family and all of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kowanda Beryl Boyd, his parents, Henry and Alpha Boyd, and his siblings, Leroy Boyd, Merle Fairchild, Troy Bond, Nanny Lott, Letha Glass, and Myrtis Martin.

Survivors include his children, Larry Boyd and wife Vida, and Nita Bryan and husband Paul, 3 brothers, Alvin Boyd and wife Mildred, Jabous Boyd and wife Ida, and Norman Boyd and wife Connie, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2013, from 1 - 2 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Hospice Advantage and their staff for their care and concern of Mr. Boyd.
