Kathleen Clara Evans Vance, 85, of Verdunville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday November 10, 2010, at her residence.

Born August 19, 1925, in Verdunville, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Dixie Pearl Ellis Evans. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Harlan Vance; one daughter, Harlyne "Kathy" Frye; four brothers, Ira, Kessel, Curtis and Lloyd Evans, and two sisters, Florence Baisden and Lelia Coffman.

Kathleen was a member of the Logan's Woman's Club, Holden Garden Club and a member of the Maryetta United Baptist Church for 59 years. She greatly enjoyed participating in the Ladies Auxiliary and cooking for the youth at the United Baptist Church Camp at Salt Rock. She was active in the lives of her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved being with her family, church family, friends and neighbors, and was always helping others. Her home was always open to everyone with her motto of life being: "Never let anything go bad in your refrigerator, instead share it with your neighbors".

Those left behind to cherish her memories include her sons, Philip (Peggy) Vance of Whitman, Freddie Vance of Charleston, Kelly (Denise) Vance of Holden and Jimmy (Elayne) Whitaker of Dingess; daughters, Becky (Alex) Nagy of Holden, and Dixie (Jimmy) Long and Nancy Vess, both of Verdunville; sisters, Corda Hale of Parkersburg and Audrea (Zane) Legg of Ravenswood; sister-in-law, Mae Evans of Verdunville; grandchildren, Kristie (Chris) Tate, Scotty Nagy, Wesley (Becky) Nagy, Robby (Holly) Long, Jason (Shelia) Long, John Randall (Katrina) Long, Jacob (Brittany) Long, Amanda (Jason) Sisler, Randall (Taunya) Vance, Matthew Vance, Dianna (Brian) Vance, Evan (Katie) Vance, Drew Vess, Kelli Lane (Toby) Bryington, Andrea Queen, Jeremy Queen, Linzie Paul Queen and Jessie Bowen; great-grandchildren, Hailee and Alexis Tate, Beth Nagy, John Wesley, Abigail and Ava Kathleen Nagy, Hunter, Gage, Gabby and Mia Long, Kaley, Cristian, Cayden, Ian, Alex and Olivia Long, Jayden and Kenzie Long, Wyatt Sisler, MaKayla and Seth Vance, Mason and Avery Bryington and Belle Whitaker, and a very special caregiver, Linda Decker.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, November 13, at the Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville with the Rev. Lonnie Gore Jr., Rev. Barney Goins and Rev. Randy Skeens officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church.

Pallbearers include Scotty Nagy, John Wesley Nagy, Robby Long, Jason Long, John Randall Long, Jacob Long, Randall Vance, Matthew Vance, Evan Vance and Drew Vance.

Honorary pallbearers include Curtis Evans Jr., Teddie Hale Jr., Jack Baisden and Jack Baisden Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethlehem Association Church Camp, c/o Maryetta United Baptist Church, P. O. Box 32, Verdunville, WV 25649.
