Bertie was born in a small town called Millport in Pickins Co. Alabama. Its not on the list so it is probably a community now, or does not exist. She came with her parents who were Circuit Riders for the M.E. Church South.
They came to O. T. in 1898, where she met her husband. After they married in 1901, they migrated to Muleshoe, TX.
They had 12 children:Audie W., Mable Daisy, Ralph Lenden, Claude Ray, Jewell L., James (Pete), Margaret E., Bonnie N.,Billie M., Lillie M., and Eugene F. Black.
