Anna was the first wife of Hans Michael Schneider. They left the Palatine area of the Holy Roman Empire (now Germany) with their two young sons to join kinsmen in the Philadelphia area of the American Colonies. They made their way up the Rhine River to embark from Rotterdam. Fees for passage at river ports were high and the Schneiders did not have enough left for passage on the boat bound for Philadelphia. Rather than give up, Hans Michael signed indentures for all the family in return for passage on the "Two Brothers" bound for Savannah, Georgia. On October 7, 1738, three months after setting sail, they arrived at the port of Savannah. Gen. James Olgethorpe met the boat, bought their indentures and donated them to Pastor Boltzius of the Salzburgers Luthern settlement in Ebenezer. They received a warm welcome and Hans Michael assigned as cowherd of the community cattle. The next year, Anna died after "giving birth to a weakly child." The child was baptized and given the name, Matthais. Mrs. Landfelder took the child to care for but he only lived two days.
