Daves loves nature and is an avid bird watcher. He collected rocks as a child.

DAVID MARVIN WHITE
Beloved husband and stepfather, David passed away on July 28, 2007 at the age of 62, after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer. Born on August 2, 1944 in Pensacola, FL, David became passionate about the environment, birds, and habitat conservation at an early age. He earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and worked in cultural resource management for Southern California Edison. After starting his firm, Applied Cultural Dynamics, in Santa Fe, David completed several ethnographic studies for the National Park Service. Throughout his career, his work was dedicated to Native American issues, as well as cultural and environmental preservation.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Guyette, his stepson Austin Spafford, his brother, Rick White, and his mother, Marcella White. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randolph Carew White, his father Marvin H. White, his aunt Agnes Reedy Mayne and his uncle Curtis Reedy.
David's passion for the environment was central to his life. Throughout his cancer treatment, David wrote prolifically on birding and habitat conservation topics. He served as Vice President of the Sangre de Cristo Chapter (Santa Fe) of Audubon New Mexico and as a board member of the Los Angeles Audubon Chapter.
A memorial service will be held at the Randall Davey Audubon Center (upper Canyon Road) on August 15, 2007, from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the David White Fund for Habitat Conservation, Audubon New Mexico, P.O.
