Fred S. Dennis, a well known resident of Waverly, died Tuesday night at 8:30, at Memorial hospital, Springfield, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Mr. Dennis was a retired farmer and school teacher, having taught in the Waverly school a number of years. More recently he had been a real estate dealer.
Deceased was born in Waverly August 18, 1866, the son of Americus and Mary Dennis, and was 81 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Effie Woodmansee October 11, 1894. She preceded him in death August 15, 1943.
Surviving are three sons, F. L., of St. Louis; Lorain, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Verne, of Waverly; and two daughters, Mrs. William Ladage, Jr., of Waverly, and Mrs. Horace M. Luce of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church, Friday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, in charge of the pastor, Rev. Bronson N. Smith. The remains will be at the Neece Funeral Home until one hour before the service, when they will be removed to the church.
Burial was in East cemetery.
