John Howard Vaughn, 90, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his home, of natural causes. He was 90 years old and was born in Highland City, FL, on January 13, 1923.
John was a veteran of WWII, serving in France. He was a lifelong native to Polk County. He was a bank examiner at Venice-Nokomirs Bank in Venice, FL. He became president at Imperial Bank in Lakeland and retired from the bank in 1985.
John was a long time member of Maybluff Hunting Club in Folkston, GA and served as president for many years. He was also a member of the Shrine Club of Lakeland, Egypt Shrine of Tampa, Grand Lodge of Winter Haven, Scottish Rite, Elk Lodge, Rotary Club, and Royal Order of Jester Tampa Club #89. He enjoyed his hobbies in fishing, golf, and deer hunting.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Vaughn. He survived by his brother, Benjamin Vaughn of Lake Placid, FL, his sons, John Clark and his wife, Jennifer, and Kevin Howard, both of Lakeland, FL, two grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, from 5-7 pm in the Tribute Center at Heath Funeral Chapel. A service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11 am in the chapel at Heath Funeral Chapel.
