Joined Confederate Army and then joined Quantrill. Wounded at the Battle of Independence August 11, 1862. He went to Kentucky with Quantrill in 1865 and was at the house of Mr. Thurman when Quantrill was mortally wounded. He surrendered with McCorkle (his cousin) at Newcastle, Kentucky. He received the Southern Cross of Honor from the Independence Chapter U.D.C. in 1913.
