David G. Ayers, 74, of Tusculum, passed away Sunday morning (March 24, 2013) at Takoma Regional Hospital. He was a formerly employed by Shipbuilders and Miller Industries. He was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife: Gertie Ayers; two daughters and one son-in-law: Amy Ayers, Robbyn and Kevin Johnson; one grandson: Jordan David Ayers; one sister: Mary Ayers; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Margaret Ayers, Priscilla and Bobbie Wallen; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: L. A. and Mollie Ayers; four brothers: Doug Ayers, Frank Ayers, Logan Ayers, Jr., and Jay Ayers; one sister: Susie Ayers; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bruce and Nellie Collins. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Rex Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Nephews will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Johnson, Zahn McCaslin, Dr. Richard Aasheim, Buddy Massey, and Garcia McAmis.
