Mary Alice was the daughter of Wayne and Esther Davenport. She attended Mace grade school and New Ross High School, where she playd trumpet in the school band and at social events. After graduating in 1941, she attended Butler University where she played trumpet and piano. On June 2, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Williams. He had just returned from war in Europe.
They returned to her family farm, known as the Loop Homestead since the time of her great grandfather. The State of Indiana presented a Centennial Award to recognize the fact the farm had been in the same family more than 100 years.
Mary Alice was active in the church women's group, member of Dorothy Q Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Montgomery Historical Society, and Ladoga Library Book Club.
She is survived by four children: Joanne Stephens, Jeanne Plumb, Ruth Roth, Tom Williams, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
