Mrs. Ethel Jernigan Strickland, 93, of Dunn died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Senior Citizens Village in Dunn.

She was born June 1, 1922 in Sampson Co. daughter of the late Josiah Washington and Maude McPhail Jernigan and was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren Thomas Strickland, brothers, Fletcher, Crayton, Howard, Cecil, Herbert, Everette and J.W. Jernigan, Jr. and sister, Vivian Doris Winstead Yates(1920-1990).

Mrs. Strickland was retired from Sears in Dunn and a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church where she was a member of Keenagers, Prayer Band and the Jesse Herring Sunday School Class.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. V. Martin Groover officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Gayle S. Fox of Waxhaw and Bonnie S. Tart and husband David of Dunn, grandchildren, Shelly Hardee and husband Kirk, David Tart, Jr. and wife Karol, Craig Tart, Tanya Benson and husband Shane, Kimberly Tart and eleven great grandchildren.
