WILHELMINE THERESE "MINNIE" POTTHAST:

Minnie Teresa Petersen, 88 of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Aug. 19, 1986, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa following a long illness. Services were held Aug. 22, 1986, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Hancock Rev. Floyd Cripps officiating.

Minnie Teresa, the daughter of Walter and Nelda "Nellie" Rutz Potthast, was born at Manning, Iowa on Aug 27, 1897(or born Aug. 21st). After her graduation from the Manning High School she moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa to attend the Iowa State Teachers College. Minnie taught school at Belle Plaine, Coon Rapids and Hancock, Iowa.

On May 26, 1923 she was united in marriage to Robert Waldo Petersen at Omaha, Ne. They were the parents of three children, Paul, Delores and Shirley.

They made their home in the Hancock area where they were engaged in farming for 58 years. Minnie and Waldo retired from farming in 1982 and moved to the Heritage House in Atlantic.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Waldo in March of 1984; and one brother LaVere. She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Delores and her husband George Ruby of Des Moines, Iowa, Shirley and her husband Phil Oakley of Salem, Oregon and son Paul and his wife Carole of San Rafael, California; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many freinds.
