The funeral services of Mr. Hope Graham took place on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark F. Underhill officiating. Interment was made in the Ocheyedan cemetery.

Hope Graham was born May 26, 1860, at Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of Isaac and Harriet Graham. When he was 8 years of age his parents died, and he was reared by an older brother until he was 16 years of age. He belonged to that group of pioneers who learned the lessons of self-reliance through honest toil and started to earn his own living when he was 16 years old. In 1879, he came to Iowa from Wisconsin, working on the railroad for a number of years, and later took up farm work.

On January 28, 1901, he was married to Roma Harris at Webster City, Iowa, and settled on a farm south of Harris, where he lived until the time of his death, with the exception of four years, which he spent in McAllen, Texas.

His life was blessed with the presence of two foster daughters, Mrs. Marion Stevens, and Veryl, and three grandchildren in this relationship.

He was preceded in death by the immediate members of his family, and by his wife on June 17, 1924.

For a long time, he had been in failing health, his condition gradually becoming worse. Ten weeks ago, he was taken to a hospital in Sibley for treatment to ease his pain and to help him in his physical crisis. On Saturday morning, May 1, 1943, he passed away in the presence of his two foster children, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 5 days.

A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Lucille Heppler and Mrs. Esther Woodworth, Leland McClain and Allan McClain accompanied by Mrs. J.B. Roszell, sang the following hymns: Going Down the Valley, Nearer My God to Thee, and There'll Be No Night There.
