Death of Richard Stone
Richard Stone, better known as Dick Stone, died suddenly at his home on Vine street, about 6 p.m. o'clock Friday Dec. 20th. He had been in poor health all the season, but kept around, and Friday forenoon he worked at his usual occupation of sawing wood. When he returned home at noon he told his wife he felt badly and believed that he as about done up. He remained at home that afternoon, and when setting in his chair, suddenly fell over, expiring immediately. A physician was called and decided that the cause of his death was exhaustion and heart failure.
Mr. Stone was 69 years old last April, and was a soldier in the civil war, in the 48th regiment. He leaves a widow and 9 children, some of the latter quite young, and two daughters married. One son, also grown, is in Minnesota.
The funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m, in the F.W. Baptist church. Interment was in Weston cemetery.
