Opal Belle Clevenger Cole 89, longtime resident of Okmulgee, died in Okmulgee on Sunday, March 24, 2013. She was born in Pharoah, OK on October 30, 1923 to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Lula (Johnson) Nichols. Opal retired as Woman's Dept Manager for J.C. Penny Co. for 25 years. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron, also a member of the First Baptist Church, was a Cub Scout den mother, and she visited nursing homes and played music with "The Over The Hill Band". Opal was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband James Victor Clevenger Sr. and second husband Robert E. Cole.
