MSgt. George A. (Rip) Masters, age 71, of Acworth, GA, went to be with Jesus on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010. He was a
member of Summit Baptist Church, Acworth, where his service was held on Thursday, Dec. 23 with interment in Newman Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Otto, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Carpenter Masters; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Sherry Masters and sons, Tim and Chris; daughter and son-in-law Darla and Clay Bennett and sons, Harrison, Chase and Davis; sister, Carol Balderson in Corpus Christi, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

"Rip" was born in Rochester, PA, graduated from Rochester
High School and worked at B&W Steel Mill for a time before joining the USMC where he served for 22 years, retiring in 1981. He retired from Lockheed Corp. in 2003. He was a member and Chaplain of the Marine Corps League of Woodstock, GA; served with Builders for Christ for 20 years and was a GA State Hunter Safety Education Instructor for 24 years, being named Georgia's Hunter Safety Educator of the Year for 2009. He was past president of Olive Springs Hunting Club. He had donated over 100 pints of blood to the American Red Cross during his lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to be made to the Marine Corps League of Woodstock Detachment
