Joseph Allan Mangum, 77 of Strong, formerly of Smith County MS, passed away on March 23, 2013.

He was born on March 3, 1936 to Arthur Herbert and Hattie Jane Mills Mangum. He was a farmer, brick layer and in the trucking business. Joseph was a member and deacon of Knowles Baptist in Strong. He loved being outdoors, especially working on his farm and taking care of his livestock. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joyce Stroud, Dot Breland and an infant; brothers Guy Mangum, Ray Mangum and infant Donald Mangum.

Survivors include his wife Charlotte Windham Mangum; children Wanda (Leonard Carey) Herring and Marty (Phyllis) Mangum of Strong; grandchildren Charlie (Melissa) McHenry of El Dorado, John Herring of Strong, Christine (Chad) Jones of Strong and step grandchildren Dustin Nolan of LA and Chris Nolan of TX; great grandchildren Chase and Kayla McHenry of El Dorado; brother-n-law Bill Breland of Kokomo, MS; Sister-n-laws Virginia Mangum of Morton MS, Frances Mangum of El Dorado and nieces and nephews. He left behind his beloved pets.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Knowles Baptist in Strong. Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the church with Tommy Nash officiating with burial to follow at Centerpoint Cemetery in Strong under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Pallbearers are John Herring, Charlie McHenry, Tom Mangum, Donald Mangum, Jamie Morrow, Kevin Black, Randy Breland and Chuck Johnston
