Charles R. Schwartz, 72, died Aug. 10, 2007, in Fredericksburg.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church. Graveside services followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Schwarz was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Baytown, the son of William M. and Cordie Adams Schwartz. He married Geneva Steinbring Jan. 26, 1962, in San Antonio.

A retired teacher, Schwartz was active in church programs and served as past president of the National Lutheran Men in Mission of the ELCA. He was currently serving on ELCA's Development Board.

A woodworker, Schwartz made intricate wooden crosses at Charlie's Sawdust Factory.
Schwartz is survived by his wife and a son, Ken, of Fredericksburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Billy Gene Fleet of Longview, and a brother-in-law, Aaron Bridwell of Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Ray Schwartz; a brother, Jefferson Washington Schwartz; a sister, Betty Bridwell, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ellis Schwartz.

Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Men In Mission (National Level), Cross Trails Ministry or the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
