She retired after 20 years as an assistant manager of the Deb-N-Heir childrens store on West Jackson Street in Muncie. She was a founding member of the 16th Street Church of God. Irene devoted her life to her church while serving on numerous committees and was a longtime enthusiastic member of the choir. She loved her family very much and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Surviving relatives include three sons and one daughter, Larry Druckemiller (Sharon), Gary Druckemiller (Mary Jane), Sandy Hitchcock (Terry), and and Jan Druckemiller; three sisters, Blanche Fickert (Jim), Wanda Powell, and Sylvia Griffis (William); 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Monte Druckemiller (infant); and three sisters, Jean Newton, Cora Voke, and Myrtle Turney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie, IN, with Rev. David Hershey officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and also on Friday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
