Kattie Lee Anthony was born June 5, 1943, to the union of Stewart and Charity Benton Crumble in Westpoint, Mississippi. Her birth name was Twancy Kate which was changed to Kattie once she moved to Kansas City with her big sister, Lucy at the age of seventeen.

Kattie departed this life on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Both her parents, her son, Clyde Thompson, her husband, Fred T. Anthony, her siblings, Mary Currington, Hester Williams, Stewart Crumble, Jr., Queen Harris, and Mary Lettuce Randle, and her step-sister, Doris Jean Brown all preceded her in death.

Kattie received her formal education in Westpoint from Mary Holmes School. She would let everyone know that most of her knowledge was from "mother wit" or "mother's wisdom". She joined Faith Deliverance COGIC in the mid 70's after a life threatening illness. It was at this time she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and she began to seek healing. It was also on her sick bed, where the Lord gave her the song "God Moved, In The Hospital Room".

After her healing, she went on to work in five different auxiliaries at the church until she could no longer work due to her illness.

Kattie never met a stranger and she touched many with her outgoing personality. She had the ability to make you laugh no matter what. It was because of her personality that she was selected as a contestant on the game show, "The Price Is Right" back in 1975. She found out that they selected people who would bring life to the show so she simply just acted normal.

Kattie, Baby Kate, Sister Kattie or Grandma Kattie, whichever you called her, was a very determined soldier for the Lord. She was a risk-taker and a dream maker. She worked side by side as co-owner of Horace's Market on 3rd & Quindaro with her husband Horace Young until his death in 1982. It was at this time when she developed the love for KU Basketball. She also loved to cook for many people and would help anyone in need by working in the food pantry. She made a habit of stopping at every garage sale she saw and attending and/or planning estate sales. She also loved organizing the Annual Church Bazaar. She was a competitor at heart. You would often hear her say, "get your suitcase" and you knew someone was going to Boston while playing her favorite card game Bid Whist.

Kattie loved her family and in the early 80's, she single handedly started the Crumble Benton Family Reunion that lasted for over thirty years. She was honored for her hard work and dedication by her family in 2009.

In September 1984, Kattie married Deacon Frederick T. Anthony. This union brought together two families that had known each other for years. The two together were a team that traveled together and loved planning the family gatherings during the holidays. The gatherings always began and ended with both of them reminding the family about the goodness of the Lord.

Kattie Lee Anthony leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Lenora Denise Shields of Kansas City, Kansas, Calvin Thompson (Lisa) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Charity Burnside (Gary) of Raytown, Missouri; her siblings, Annie Dora Miller, Lucy Heard; step-brother, John Brown, Jr.; her grandchildren: LaKeisha, Jerome, JaJuan, Thompson, Darrel Hinton, Skyler Shields, Jalen, Alexandria, Taylor, Darius Thompson, and Charity Burnside; also she leaves her loving added children and grandchildren; other relatives, The Faith Deliverance Church Family, and many friends.

Funeral Services for Kattie Lee Anthony were held on Thursday, March 28, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Deliverance Family Worship Center. Interment, Leavenworth National Cemetery.
