Waverly Journal, Friday, November 21, 1947

Mrs. Lurettie Cox, a lifelong resident of the Waverly community, died Tuesday night, November 18, at 11:20, at the Grant Nursing Home in Springfield. She had been an invalid for about three years.
Mrs. Cox was born on a farm near Waverly, February 14, 1859, a daughter of Hezekiah and Rosella Hamilton and was 88 years, 9 months and 4 days of age at the time of her death.
She was married to Roland Burnett, September 12, 1877.
On February 14, 1899, she was married to Richard Cox, who preceded her in death January 21, 1924.
Mrs. Cox was a member of the Methodist church in Waverly, and was active in church circles and club work as long as she was physically able.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dora Burnett Hubbs, of Springfield; a son, Holland R. Burnett, of Waverly; a sister, Mrs. J. B. Lombard, of Waverly; two grandchildren, Lillian Hubbs Vaughan of Springfield, and Loran Burnett of Waverly; and three great grandchildren, Ann Linda Vaughan of Springfield, and Patricia Ann and Marjorie Ellen Hubbs, of Tallula.
Funeral services will be held at the Wiese Funeral home in Waverly, Friday afternoon, Nov. 21, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Bronson N. Smith, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
Burial will be in East cemetery.
