SENECA — William J. "Bill" Calhoun, 87, of Seneca, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with the Rev. Bill Clark of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Military rites will follow the service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Algona, Iowa, to William O. and Eva (Tibbitts) Calhoun. In 1974, he married Joie Sweeden Gaines of Marseilles, who survives. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 33 of Ottawa. He was employed by Union Carbide-Bakelite for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joie; one son, W. David (Susan) Calhoun of Ottawa; two stepdaughters, Susie (Paul) Dennison of Burns, Tenn., and Kristal (Dean) Silver of Homer Glen; one stepson, Jon (Diane) Gaines of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, Kelly Webb, Kimberly (Calhoun) Hamer, Karla Rowe, Jeff and Rachael Gaines, Paula Dennison, Leslie Hanson, and Drew, Cory, Karlee and Drake Silver; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Clarice Evans; and one brother, Bobby Calhoun.
