Data for persons born early in the 17th century is both difficult to find AND yet there are many sources with much data that often is different from one source to another. I think that the data on this memorial is generally the same from source to source and fairly accurate, including the names, dates and links.

HOWEVER, e.g., there are different spellings for Michael, Dwinnell and Read; and their birth and marriage dates and places differ from Europe (France, England, e.g.) to Massachusettes and by as many as 14 years! They were significant property owners, public citizens, and lived in the Salem community during the witch hysteria of 1692.

I think that the beginning of the Dwinnell family in America ends here (for me). The only other clue further back may be Sr's father, Michael "Dwinelle" (1620), who may still be in France (with Count Dwinell near La Rochelle)!

An interesting read (I recommend!) and source of some of the preceding, and with conflicting data, is:

Michael Dwinnell (Dunnell), Sr, married Mary in 1668 in "New England".
