Mrs. Frances Gilbert Jarrett, 86, of Cascade, VA went to be with her Lord at Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, VA.
She was born in Draper, NC, daughter of the late Sam and Purnell Motley Gilbert. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1943, Draper High School and was employed 39 years with Fieldcrest Mills.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Draper, teaching Sunday School for 65 years, singing in the choir, playing the piano and hosting missionary families.
She also enjoyed her Cascade community groups, including the Ruritan Ladies Auxiliary and Cascade Village Homemaker's Club. She especially enjoyed flower gardening and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack B Jarrett, three sisters Bernice Hankins, Carol Hopkins and Jean Gilbert and two brothers, Sammie and Charles Gilbert.
She is survived by her son Jay Jarrett and wife, Sherri Jarrett of Woodstock, VA and daughter Susan Jarrett Schlacter and husband, Jed Schacter of Long Island, NY.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jack Bradley Jarrett III, Meredith Hope Schlacter, Scott Jarrett Schlacter and Laura Kathleen Jarrett, sisters Ann Jeffries of Eden, NC and Mary Lewis of Madison, NC special niece, Gloria Chandler and husband, Jim Chandler as well as two caregivers, Hope Breedlove and Vickie Martin.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church of Draper.
Burial followed in the Jarrett Family Cemetery in Cascade.
