He retired as an agent from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.; was a graduate of the former Pennsylvania State College, where he was cheerleader; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 420, both of Steelton.
He was the widower of Lavina Kerns Harper. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Wadman of Harrisburg and Kathryn V. Bruno of Carlisle; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
