Lieutenant Matthew Louis Piper of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008.
Funeral services were on March 20, 2008, at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Longwood, Florida, followed by his burial at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, Florida.
He was a devoted father of five and a dedicated employee of Orange County Corrections in Orlando, Florida.
Matthew Piper was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the youngest of four children to Marion and Linn T. Piper Jr.
After graduating from Speedway High School he relocated to Orlando, Florida, and soon after, began work for Orange County Corrections. He continued his work as a corrections officer for 22 years, working his way up to the rank of lieutenant.
Matthew was known among friends and family for his quickwitted sense of humor. He constantly worked hard to bring smiles to the faces of those around him, most especially his children and is remembered as a true friend among his colleagues.
He is survived by his wife, Holly F. Piper, Altamonte Springs, Florida; daughters, Victoria L. Piper and Olivia K. Piper, both of Waynesboro, Virgina, younger daughters, Madison Piper and Emma Piper both of Altamonte Springs, Florida; son, Donovan Bese, Altamonte Springs, Florida; Sisters, Susan Piper Head (George), La Canada, California, Mary Vasquez (Dan), Orlando, Florida. Matt is also survived by one niece; and six nephews.
The family recommends to the grieving making contributions to the individual children's college funds.
