Gainesville - Mary Mott Jones, age 94, died peacefully on Friday March 22, 2013 at the ET York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville.
Mary was the first of five children born to N.C. and Emma Mott on July 26, 1918 in Heilbrun Springs, Bradford County, Florida.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband Jack P. Simmons and later her second husband Quincy C. Jones. Also preceding her in death was one brother, J.R. Mott and sisters, Doris Layfield and Amanda Wilkinson, step-daughter and husband, Evan, and Steed Rountree.
She is survived by one brother Marshall Mott.
Mary had one son, Lamar Simmons (Yancey) living in Monteocha, FL. They have two daughters, Sharla S. Simmons of Gainesville and Allison McKinney (Jon) of Oviedo, FL. She is also survived by step-children, Doug Jones (Gina), Vicky Wright (Rick) and Ebie Pons. Mary was blessed with many wonderful grand and great grandchildren.
Mary resided in Monteocha, FL during her married life and later moved to Harbor Chase Assisted Living Facility for the last four years. Her work career was with the Food Service and Transportation Division of the Alachua County School Board.
A Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday March 26, 2013 at the Milam Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Antioch Cemetery in LaCrosse, FL.
